Arcanists

In this world, science and Arcanum coexist, dividing people into two races: Mankind and Arcanists. Magic, divination, and alchemy... are no longer baseless rumors. If one cannot protect oneself with Arcanum, they will be eroded by the "Storm" along with the era, disappearing without a trace.
Overview[]
Arcanists are entities with the ability to use perceive and harness arcanum. However, they are not limited to just humans; arcanum-aligned entities can include animals and plants, such as APPLe and Pickles, mechanical beings, such as Sputnik, aliEn T, and Ms. Radio, and even supernatural beings such as A Knight, Poltergeist, and Click.
The St. Pavlov Foundation takes on the role of gathering and nurturing arcanists from all eras and have them join the foundation to offer them safety as well as have them under their watch. Most arcanists are taken in when they are children, and raised and trained within the foundation, but in case of unregistered Arcanists who grow up among society, they are usually recruited when they are found and discovered.

Cellular Activity
Despite most arcanists appearing as normal humans, there are biological differences that further distinguish them. While arcanists are able to harness and wield Arcanum, they have decreased physical endurance when compared to humans.
Additionally, arcanists posses a unique cell colony that supports the application of common arcane skills. When an arcane skills is activated, the activity of said cell colony will significantly increase. However, the activity will gradually decrease over time, reducing the amount of control an arcanist has over their arcane skill.
Thankfully, arcanist's cellular activity can be immediately restored to normal levels by consuming Picrasma Candy, a unique confectionery developed and created from the Picrasma Tree by the arcanist, Medicine Pocket.

According to the ATLAS, the arcanist magazine UTTU classifies arcanists into 5 categories, which are presumably based on their background or arcane nature.
- The Beyond - Arcanists from beyond this world. They have origins that are linked to something outside the natural world, instead of arcanum.
- The Awakened - Awakened arcanists are those who started off as simple, inanimate objects but later gained sentience and awareness.
- Arcanists - A general term for those who are born with a different physiology that makes them able to sense and use arcanum.
- The Mixed - Mixed arcanists are those born from both human and human and arcanist lineages.
- The Infected - Although very little is known, they are the 5% of surviving victims of the Beyond Disease, which causes significant changes to their bodies and minds.
- Human - While those of mankind are unable to naturally use arcanum, for the sake of comprehension, they have still been categorized by UTTU.
